INOTEK and Sampoerna Untuk Indonesia Hold a “Festival UMKM #BANGKITWIRAUSAHA”

Jakarta, 18 August 2021 – INOTEK with Sampoerna Untuk Indonesia commemorated National MSME Day and Indonesian Independence Day by holding the “Festival UMKM #BangkitWirausaha” which was held on 18-22 August 2021. The MSME Festival was supported by the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Agency for National Standardization, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and Karawang Regency Government, and was attended by 500 MSMEs.

A series of educational activities, business talk shows, MSME promotions, and Jelajah Nusantara were presented at the “Festival UMKM #BangkitWirausaha” to motivate and provide useful knowledge so that MSMEs have the competitiveness to be able to rise during this pandemic. This festival will introduce flavors and creative products from MSMEs assisted by INOTEK and Sampoerna and it is hoped that optimal transactions will occur to encourage community economic.

The “Festival UMKM #BangkitWirausaha” was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Trade, Mr. Jerry Sambuaga, in his speech he said, “MSMEs contribute more than 60% of GDP and are the backbone of the Indonesian economy. I think the assistance provided by Sampoerna and INOTEK at the MSME Festival is appropriate, and I hope that the support given to MSMEs will not only survive the pandemic but also achieve success in the domestic market and even penetrate the international market,” he said.

Also attending the virtual opening ceremony were the Chairman of the INOTEK Board of Directors, Indra Uno; Sampoerna’s Head of External Affairs, Ishak Danuningrat; Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Riza Patria; and the Head of the Karawang Regency KUKM Service, Ade Sudiana on Wednesday (18/08).

“As a business incubator that provides support to MSMEs, INOTEK is committed to providing support and encouraging MSMEs to have competitiveness by downstream the products of MSMEs fostered as a driver of economic movement through the holding of the #BangkitWirausaha MSME Festival to market their superior products, which was participated by 50 MSMEs,” said Indra Uno.

Sampoerna’s Head of External Affairs, Ishak Danuningrat, said, “Through the umbrella of Sampoerna’s sustainability program for Indonesia, we are committed to always working together with stakeholders and strategic partners to support the growth of MSMEs through programs such as Build Back National Economy Better (BBNEB), especially for address the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The position of MSMEs plays an important role in the absorption of labor in this sector. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought challenges to the sustainability of MSMEs which require MSMEs to pivot their business, so that MSME support programs are needed that have a significant impact so that MSMEs can survive and rise at this time.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria said, “The presence of the Festival UMKM #BangkitWirausaha provides positive energy for MSMEs to be able to rise and increase competitiveness. We would like to thank INOTEK and Sampoerna for their efforts to support the government in realizing resilient and strong MSMEs to rise together in this difficult time.”

The government fully supports the implementation of the #BangkitWirausaha MSME Festival in the mission of reviving the National economy, due to the current limited space for movement, the presence of the “Festival UMKM #BangkitWirausaha” is virtually a real movement to generate motivation and optimism for MSMEs to rise, said the Head of the Karawang Regency KUKM Service, Ade Sudiana .

Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, also expressed his support, “This festival is a turning point for MSMEs to move forward, fight and continue the dream of this nation’s warriors, because MSMEs are the milestones for the revival and pulse of the Indonesian economy”.

The “Festival UMKM #BangkitWirausaha” is a series of activities from the Build Back National Economy Better (BBNEB) Program, a collaboration program between INOTEK and Sampoerna Untuk Indonesia aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and MSMEs as the pillars of the nation’s economy, which is currently being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The BBNEB program is designed to support the economic recovery of the community by assisting MSMEs to adapt limited business movements due to the prevailing social restrictions.

In implementing the BBNEB Program, INOTEK and Sampoerna collaborated with several strategic partners, including the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the National Standardization Agency, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and the Karawang Regency Government. BBNEB has assisted more than 500 MSMEs with a focus on product commercialization to improve the welfare and standard of living of MSMEs. In the future, this program will collaborate with various other parties such as the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Manpower to increase the scale of training and reach more MSMEs throughout Indonesia.
