Innovator Forum 2015

Innovator Forum is an event initiated by Yayasan Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia (INOTEK) as a platform to support the development of an ecosystem that is conducive to the growth of appropriate technology and appropriate technology-based small and growing businesses (SGBs). In this regard the Innovators Forum is a venue for innovators, business incubators, government, academia, and appropriate technology-based SGBs to develop capacity and share experience in developing appropriate technology and its commercialization.

9th Innovator Forum 2015 was held on October 21, 2015 at Hotel Bumi, Surabaya, East Java with the main theme “Appropriate Technology for Industrial and Entrepreneurship Acceleration”. The event was fully supported by The Lemelson Foundation and held in collaboration with MITI Surabaya Student Chapter and the Student Executive Board of Institut Sepuluh November Surabaya.

Innovator Forum 2015 was attended by 200 participants, featuring two plenary sessions with sub themes “Appropriate Technology in Agriculture and Fisheries” and “Appropriate Technology for Energy” and parallel sessions with sub themes “Environmental-based Technopreneurship” and “Principles of Supply Chain for SMEs”. The event also featured an exhibition of various appropriate technologies.

In his keynote speech Sandiaga S. Uno, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of INOTEK, hoped that the Innovators Forum will be able to inspire the creation of more innovative appropriate technology-based SGBs that in 10 years time could become large companies. He also wished that the event could encourage more synergies and partnerships among stakeholders in the field of appropriate technology in Indonesia.
